Mon(紋), or Kamon(家紋) is a Japanese family symbol. It is marked over personal belongings as well as used as banners in battle. Later every kind of organizations and guilds used their own symbols. This tradition is also widely remains in several dojos.

The mon of Katsuninkan Istanbul is a snow crystal not to represent winter or cold. But it is to represent the path of a water drop to a snow crystal, a path of perfection. Every crystal is different from each other, just like everyone’s kendo represent their character and is different. It seems that when it begins to snow, an atmosphere of silence also falls on the earth. Lands become united in white. Thus a snowflake symbolizes serenity, peace and tranquility. The clear glassy and clean formation of it also symbolize purity. Twelve sided snowflake is a rare form, shaped when two crystals merge in the beginning shaping together. This is to represent that kendo can not be practiced individually, but it should be together.
